To Help You Think Before You Act
LIFE EVENTS
Life Events are events that "just occur in life". Often there are no reasons for them. they just happen! Most of us have some ability to intervene in our own behalf to minimize or maximize the effects the event may have on us. For Example: Common sense tells us that if it is raining and we go outside wear a raincoat or get wet. This is how we intervene in our behalf. It is just plain day-to-day common sense. Life Events can be good, bad, or indifferent. Usually they have no lasting effect on us and you have no control over Life Events. All you can do is intervene with common sense and do your best to minimize or maximize their effects on you.Â
THOUGHTS
Thoughts are no more than you simply becoming aware of Life Events as they occur in your life. No one can have a thought about anything unless they first experience an event on some level in some form. While you have little or no control over Life Events the amount of control you have over your Thoughts is 100%. Compare your thinking to a light dimmer switch in your home. Turn it up and the light brightens. Turn it down and the lights dim. The illumination follows the rotation of the switch. The rotation and the illumination are inseparable. Controlling your Thoughts is no more than turning the dimmer switch and causing a more positive attitude. Not taking control of your thinking will often leave you deeper in the dark.
FEELINGS
FEELINGS are consequences of THINKING. No more and no less! FEELINGS are governed by the way you think. Like the light dimmer switch in your home controls the illumination of the lights THINKING controls the FEELINGS the same way. FEELINGS change as THINKING changes. No one can control your THINKING. Only you can. It dims and brightens according to how you think. Think and stay out of jail. Practice THINKING about LIFE EVENTS in a more positive way. The consequence of taking control of you thinking is better FEELINGS. In other word it could mean the difference between freedom and incarceration.
BEHAVIOR
BEHAVIOR most often results from how we tend to THINK about LIFE EVENTS and the resulting consequence of the FEELINGS we generate from our THOUGHTS. BEHAVIOR is expressed in many ways. An example of the expression of BEHAVIOR can be tears, anger, depression, love, laughter, hate or any other constructive or destructive way. BEHAVIOR does not play out based upon the intensity of the LIFE EVENT but according to your THOUGHTS about LIFE EVENTS and the resulting consequences of the FEELINGS and resulting BEHAVIOR you generate and regulate by your THOUGHTS. Nothing more and nothing less!
So what is the catch here? Nothing! You are in the situation you are in no matter if your life events are good or bad. The way you got into your predicament has nothing whatsoever to do with bad luck and no, you weren't "holding it for someone else". You are in the predicament you are in because you chose not to think in a way that helped you find a way to minimize the impact of the event on you. You allowed your thinking to run wild, uncontrolled, and your feelings could do no more than follow the chaos. The only way out of the predicament you are in (Jail) is time served! The way to stay out of jail is to control your THOUGHTS about LIFE EVENTS so that your FEELINGS will support better BEHAVIOR. You have to! Why? Because you cannot control or modify anything except youâre THINKING! The more constructive your thoughts and feelings the more positive you behavior will be. Freedom or incarceration, your choice, your responsibility, your future!
